Richard Riot Jaem is a Malaysian politician. He is the Deputy Foreign Minister and currently the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia
for the Serian
constituency in Sarawak
, representing the Sarawak United Peoples' Party (SUPP) in the ruling Barisan Nasional
coalition. He has also served as Chairman of the Sarawak Rivers Board.
Riot first won the Serian seat in 1990 as an independent
, but was elected in 1995 on a Barisan Nasional ticket. After the 2008 election
, there was speculation that Riot would defect to the opposition People's Justice Party
; however, Riot denied the speculation and the move never materialised.
