Ticket barriers are in operation at this station. Although only two platforms remain in use here today, the layout was more substantial until the late 1980s. There was an additional through platform on the southern side and an east-facing bay platform (still intact although now disused) on the northern side, plus a pair of through lines and several carriage sidings. It also has two impressive LNWR-built brick and timber signal box
