It is best known as the birthplace of the Slovene Protestant reformer
Primož Trubar
. Trubar was born in the village in 1508. What remains on the site of the Trubar homestead, namely a 200 year old sawmill
and a more recent barn have been arranged into a small museum with a printing workshop and gallery.
The local church is dedicated to the Saint Bartholomew . It was built in the early 17th century on the site of an older building. In 1765 it was remodelled in the Baroque style
and in 1839 its facade was replaced.
