, and moved to Keyport around 1910. He was educated in the public schools of Matawan and his first position was as messenger for a brokerage house in New York. He later was a member of the New York brokerage firm Cranberry & Co.

Wyckoff was elected to the Keyport Borough Council in 1924, and was elected mayor the following year. He was elected to the Board of Chosen Freeholders in the 1932 general election

, and served until November 1938 when he was elected County Clerk, at which time he resigned his freeholder seat. Raymond L. Wyckoff was Director of the Board of Chosen Freeholders from 1936 until his resignation.

On May 25, 1939, Raymond Ladd Wyckoff was found dead of a heart attack on the floor of his office.
