Banerjee started archery at the age of thirteen. His sister Dola Banerjee
is also an ace archer. His first International appearance was in Youth World Championship in 2004 & won silver in Team Events, which is the first ever world level medal for Indian Archery. He won several Gold medals at the World Cup Archery in 2008, 2009 & 2010 also won Individual Gold Medal in Asian Grand Prix in the year 2009&2010. In the 2010 Commonwealth Games
