RAC Research was a research chemical supplier. During a DEA
covert operation called Operation Web Tryp
in 2004 they were one of many psychoactive research chemical suppliers to be taken down on suspicion that they illegally sold designer drugs through their website.
During the time period of the operation RAC operated in a grey area of the narcotics law and claimed their right to legally sell chemicals which were not listed as controlled substances per se. However the DEA contended that RAC, among others, was supplying its customers with analogues
of controlled substances, a practice it claimed violated the Federal Analog Act
. The DEA is currently prosecuting RAC as part of its war on drugs
