. QYSA provides a fun, friendly soccer environment to children of all ages in the area. The programs for youth start at age 4 and continue all the way to the end of high school. QYSA now consists of 1200 players, 130 coaches and 50 referees. Soccer is the most played sport in Quesnel, with about 1 of every 3 children being registered soccer players.

History

QYSA was founded in 1978 and since then has been providing quality soccer to those in the North Cariboo.

Facilities

QYSA has all of it's fields located on Anderson drive. This includes 3 full size fields, 2 8 v 8 size fields as well as mini fields. The clubhouse contains a concession, changeroom/washroom with showers, tables and a lower office area. They also have an upper office area. Quesnel is home to British Columbia's Largest freespan Indoor Turf facility. It was opened in May 2005 after a year or two years of construction. Most of the funds came from the City of Quesnel, BC Soccer & the Province of British Columbia. It is located near the outdoor soccer fields. The facility is used for youth & adult soccer from October to April. Local schools and other organizations also rent it.

Season

Soccer season in Quesnel runs from mid April to late June. Rep teams may play all year round.
QYSA also runs a winter season from October to March (see above).

Accidents

May 2009 - Soccer coach punched a Great-Grandmother at the fields during a youth soccer game.

January 2010 - Punching match started during a U18 game when one player hit and then tripped a Korean Exchange student who was playing on the other team. The player who tripped him was given a season suspension.

Rep Teams

Quesnel Strikers have been the name of Quesnel's rep teams since 2003. The Strikers main kit from 2003-2009 was a golden yellow jersey with black shorts and yellow sock. The second kit was silver. Their current kit released in 2009 includes a Yellow/Black Adidas Jersey, Black Adidas Shorts and Yellow socks. They also introduced a new logo in 2009.
Some good players have come from QYSA Rep & development programs. One is Justin Teide who is now playing soccer for South Lake, the second best team in South Carolina

Cariboo League

In 2010 QYSA along with WLYSA launched the Cariboo Soccer League. In this league Rep teams from the Cariboo region play each other every second weekend and compete to be the champion of the Cariboo region.

Alumni

Arthur Cumplido - Brazilian soccer player who played at QYSA while living in Quesnel as a foreign exchange student. He is looking to be getting picked up by a professional European team.

Adrian Bears - A former QYSA player who is now a prospect on the Vancouver Whitecaps youth team.

Justin Teide - A former QYSA player who currently plays for South Lake, the second best team in S. Carolina.
