Encyclopedia
The Queensland 500 was originally a V8 Supercar
endurance touring car

near Ipswich
. It replaced the Sandown 500
when it relinquished its role as the two-driver warm up event for the Bathurst 1000

for 2003.
The race name was revived in 2006 and has continued as a relay race.
