The Liga Nacional de Ascenso is the second level of Panama's national club championship. It was founded in 1997 and it consists of 8 teams who play to gain promotion to Liga Panameña de Fútbol. From 2008 the champion plays a playoff against the bottom team in the Liga Panameña de Fútbol in order to gain promotion while the bottom team of the league is relegated to the Copa Rommel Fernández
. Before 2008 all champions were automatically promoted and the bottom team in Liga Panameña de Fútbol automatically relegated. The league presided by Alex Gómez.
Copa Rommel Fernández
The Copa Rommel Fernández is the third level of Panama's national club championship. It was founded in 1996 and it's a seasonal tournament that lasts 2 months in which the champion is promoted to Liga Nacional de Ascenso. The tournament is named after Panamanian football legend Rommel Fernández...
