She won a State Award Winner for the Category 'Best Actress' in 1996 for the movie Om. She bagged Filmfare ('Best Actress') award for the movie 'Kanasugara' in 2001. Other awards include Screen Videocon, Udaya TV, Devikarani, Chitrapremigala Sangha and Cinema Express award.

Prema, on the lines of some well-known actresses of the yesteryear, has the credit of having stayed away from controversies and affairs and enjoys a high reputation among movie-goers, esp, womenfolk.
