The population declined to twenty during the 1950s and rose to 149 in 1968. Significant growth in the area, aided its proximity to Abilene, began to occur in the late 1980s and by 1992 there were 1,441 people living in Potosi. That growth has continued to date as new subdivisions are being constructed and expanded along FM 1750
