History

Shri Ram College of Commerce started the GBO programme in 1999. The first batch passed out in the year 2001. The course is currently in its 12th year of operations.
Global Business Operations (GBO) Programme's main objective is to provide students with advanced practical expertise in areas such as Human Resources Management, Accounting and Finance, Trade, Transnational Marketing and Information Technology. The GBO Programme endeavours to combine insights from a number of different academic disciplines and functional areas. The course adopts a multi-dimensional and multi-disciplinary view of organisational objectives and in the process motivates students to appreciate the complex and rapidly changing environment. The seminars, case studies, role-plays, management games, quizzes and projects undertaken also emphasize this perspective.

The course has a contemporary curriculum which has been designed keeping in mind the requirements of an industry and includes subjects such as industrial organisation and game theory, international investment management, international financial system, transnational marketing, taxation and business policy, procedures and logistics for global trade, social and ethical issues in business, international trade blocks and agreements etc. The GBO Programme is spread over four semesters of course work. Students are also required to undergo summer training. For two months at the end of the first year. Additionally, each student has to do a winter project with some organisation. On successful completion of the programme, the University of Delhi awards a Post Graduate Diploma in Global Business Operations.

Admission Procedure

The admission to the GBO programme is based on a written entrance test. The selected candidates are called for a group discussion and an interview.The respective Weightage are 70% Written,10 % Group Discussion, 20 % Interview . The forms are out by early December and the Entrance test is usually conducted in the last week of January.

The pattern of the written test is primarily based on other Exams like SNAP ,IIFT but also includes questions on general knowledge, economics and current business world. Each question is of four marks and there is a negative marking of one mark for every wrong answer.

The GBO programme comprises an intuitive pedagogy that is a blend of Classroom Lectures, Case Studies, Business Games, Industry Interactions and Projects. The subjects pay emphasis on International Business, Human relations, Finance, Marketing and Foreign Trade.

En masse (GBO) is the annual Management-cum-Cultural fest of GBO. The first ever fest is being organized on March 1-2, 2008.
