The Portuguese Open, currently known for sponsorship reasons as the Estoril Open de Portugal, is an annual tournament on men's golf
's European Tour
. It has been played since 1953, with a few skipped years, and has been part of the European Tour's schedule since 1973. Up until 2010, it was played in late March or early April each year, and was one of the first European Tour events of the season to be played in Europe, after the season has spent the northern winter in Asia, Australasia and South Africa. In 2010, the tournament moved to a June date. In 2010 the prize fund was €1.0 million, which is one of the smaller purses on the European Tour.
