Pong Sarasin

Pong Sarasin is a Thai businessman and a retired Thai politician who served under Major General Chatichai Choonhavan
's cabinet, acting as Deputy Prime Minister along with General Tienchai Sirisumpan in 1988. Pong was born into the illustrious Sarasin family - one of Bangkok's elite Thai-Chinese business clans - that acquired political prominence through cultivating ties with the Royal Palace and participating in its bureaucratic structure. Pong, although himself was a leading member of Thailand's Social Action Party, is also noted for his politically active family: Pong was the son of former Prime Minister and SEATO Secretary-General Pote Sarasin
; he is the brother of former Police Chief General and Interior Minister Pow Sarasin, as well as the brother of former foreign minister and current Royal Secretary Arsa Sarasin. Pong's business interests include the Thai Pure Drinks Co.Ltd, of which he is a major shareholder and current Chairman; he is also director of various public and private companies including the Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co.Ltd, the Home Product Centre Public Company Limited and Shangri-La Public Company Limited. He was also a former director of Shin Corporation Public Co.Ltd and was involved in the controversial Shin corp Sale scandal that tarnished Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's administration and subsequently triggered its collapse. He has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Business administration by Chulalongkorn University and serves on the advisory council at Sasin business graduate School.
Pong is married to Khunying (Lady) Malinee Sarasin and they have three children. Pong's social activities include sports (Pong is a keen golf player and was chairman of the prestigious Royal Bangkok Sports Club) and the collection of watches; Pong has amassed one of the largest collections of Patek Philippe watches in Thailand. Pong continues to speak at public events, attend royal ceremonies and contribute to philanthropic causes.

Pote Sarasin
