Sailly was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Ninth Congress, holding office from March 4, 1805 to March 3, 1807. He declined a renomination in 1806 and was collector of customs at Plattsburg from 1807 until his death there in 1826. Interment in Riverside Cemetery.
