. During that same year,he was appointed Minister of State State for Karamoja Development. He maintained that position during a cabinet reshuffle on 13 January 2005. In 2006, he was re-elected to his parliamentary seat. On 1 June 2006, he was appointed Minister of State for Primary Education. In another cabinet reshuffle, Peter Lokeris was appointed Minister of State for Minerals on 16 February 2009, a position he still maintains today. Lokeris was re-elected member of parliament for Chekwi county on 18 February 2011. In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, he retained his cabinet post as State Minister for Minerals.
