Hynes notched up his 50th game for the Reds in 2007 in a year where his versatility was put to the test, playing at wing and inside centre after some trial games at flyhalf.
Hynes scored the first ever Reds try at Suncorp Stadium in front of a record Australian Super 12 crowd in May 2004.
Hynes had his best ever year in 2008 scoring several spectacular tries including an 80 metre solo effort against the Lions in Africa. His punishing defence was also outstanding.
On 2 June 2008, Hynes was selected in Australia's 30-man Test squad for the 2008 Bundaberg Rum series and on 11 June 2008. On the same day, it was announced Hynes would make his debut for the Wallabies as one of the two run-on wingers against Ireland on 14 June 2008. Hynes had a very strong debut game against Ireland and won the Player's Player award as well as receiving the Bunderberg Rum Man of the Match on the first test against France on 28 June 2008. At the end of his first season with the Wallabies, Hynes received the Wallabies Rookie of the Year award.
On 5 July 2008, Hynes scored his first try for the Wallabies in front of his home crowd at Suncorp Stadium

Career
Hynes has Represented Australia at 'A', U-21, U-19 and was a schoolboy 400m sprint Champion. Hynes predominately plays as a Winger for the Reds but he has filled in at Fullback, Inside Centre and Flyhalf on numerous occasions and is the current Outside Centre for the Ballymore TornadoesBallymore Tornadoes
