Career

Edge began his career in the entertainment industry as a DJ before he then broke into television as the music producer of a TV show for Channel 4. In the late 1980s he started the record label Cool Tempo, which became one of the UK’s biggest dance and hip-hop labels through signings including Eric B. & Rakim, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh and Monie Love. Edge then moved to America to begin working for Warner Brothers, taking Monie Love and the Jungle Brothers with him. He started at Arista and then later moved to J Records

 with Clive Davis, when the Arista president set it up. Edge served as Executive Vice President of A&R at J Records.
