). In 1997 the band went on hiatus while Farrell focused on a reformed Jane's Addiction and DiStefano was diagnosed with cancer.

Three years later the recovered DiStefano released two solo albums, Words in Red and Solo at DiPiazza's were produced and released independently. A third, Gratitude was released on Sanctuary Records

DiStefano planned three albums in the year 2007, his long player entitled Loyalty, the follow-up to his 2006 collaboration with fellow musician E-Rok, tentatively titled E-Rok and Pete 2, and the follow-up to his Venice Underground album.

DiStefano appeared at Lollapalooza 2007 with former Porno for Pyros bandmate Perry Farrell's new band Satellite Party to perform some Porno for Pyros songs.
