from 1987-1988. He also taught at Lesmurdie Senior High School from 1985 to 1986 and John Curtin Senior High School
from 1981 to 1983.

He succeeded in defeating incumbent member Alan Cadby
in a pre-selection battle in early 2004. Upon being informed that he would no longer have party support to contest a winnable position, Cadby promptly quit the party to become an independent and supported the Gallop
