Pentalog is a computer and technology services company, focusing on low cost offshore/nearshore IT engineering and software development.

Based in Orléans, France, Pentalog has offices in Germany (Frankfurt/Main), Romania (Bucharest, Brasov, Iasi, Sibiu and Cluj), the Republic of Moldova (Chisinau), Vietnam (Hanoi) and Israel (Tel Aviv).

International business represents 50% of its income and the company is currently in a process of expansion in Western and Northern Europe, as well as in North America.

History

Pentalog was founded in November 1993 in Orléans, France by 5 people who are still associates. In 1994 it completed its first consulting job, designing a software for France Telecom. 1999 represented the start of the East European venture, with the launch of the Branch Office in Brasov (Romania). Here, Pentalog undertook one of its first major projects: the development of a web portal using Java and XML technologies.
In 2004, the second Romanian office was opened, serving local clients like BRD-Société Génerale, Orange, Colas Rail, Haulotte, Ericsson. In 2005, Pentalog opened a Branch Office in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. In 2006, Pentalog decided to open an R&D department by creating a Joint Venture with Ausy, known as Pentalog Technology, 50% co-ownership with Ausy.

In 2007, Pentalog had 200 employees and decided to launch another office, in Iasi (Romania).
2008 was probably the most prolific year for the company. It counted 300 employees, with annual sales exceeding EUR 9 million. In terms of infrastructure, 2008 saw the creation of 3 offices: Sibiu (Romania), Frankfurt (Germany) and Hanoi (Vietnam). In 2011 we opened our 5th Romanian office in Cluj-Napoca. Pentalog founded People Centric, an IT recruitement agency located in Romania.
Pentalog is now ISO 9001:2008 certified for all European offices and for 100% of its activities.

The services are organized around 2 Business Lines:
  • BL - IS (Information Systems):
    • Development of specific applications
    • Website design and development
    • Software testing
    • Third party application maintenance or validation

Pentalog works with companies like Altadis, CityVox, LHS Telekommunikation etc.
  • BL - ES (Embedded Systems):
    • Conception (help in writing requirements, in creating the architecture and in designing the chip (ASIC) for the different modules that make up the equipment)
    • Embedded development (from firmware to embedded software, going through all the layers)
    • Software and hardware integration (from the lower layer to application software)
    • Validation tests (functional tests, configuration tests, fault tolerance tests, integration tests, non-regression tests, load tests etc.)
    • Third-party maintenance (bug analysis and solving, upgrade processing)
    • Chip design (Digital Design and Verification (Verilog coding and VHDL RTL, Design check by Vera, Specman, C++), RTL to GDSII, Analog circuit design, CAD/CAE)
