In the first few seasons of The Flintstones, Wilma's maiden name was said to be "Pebble," which was also Pearl's maiden name, which she kept and gave to her children as well, after marrying Ricky was Slaghoople, because of her aristocratic family background.

Pearl married Ricky Slaghoople at the age of twenty, and gave birth to their first son - Jerry, ten months after the wedding. Seven and twelve year later, she gave birth to their first daughter Wilma, and twins Mickey and Mica, respectively.

When the series was adapted into live action films, Pearl Slaghoople was played by Elizabeth Taylor
