Ordained to the priesthood on December 20, 1961, Paul Verdzekov was named bishop of the then Diocese of Bamenda on August 13, 1970 and was ordained bishop on November 8, 1970. The diocese became an archdiocese on March 18, 1982.
Archbishop Verdzekov retired on January 23, 2006. He died in 2010, aged 79, as Archbishop Emeritus of Bamenda.
