. Paul is also known in celebrity circles for being the son of former UK deputy prime-minister and now lifelong Labour peer, John Prescott. Paul himself has shown much interest in following his father into the political world when his Rugby League career comes to an end, and has states on repeated occasions that he has designs on competing for the seat of Wigan East - the constituency in which he was born and raised - when this time comes.

Wigan Warriors career

Paul Prescott played in the Wigan academy setup in 2003 and 2004. His amateur club had been Wigan St Judes. He was called into the first team squad in July 2004 after an injury crisis left Wigan with no fit senior prop forwards. This was Prescott’s début from the bench against Castleford Tigers

, caused a detached retina. However he did make his comeback later that year.

In 2007 Prescott managed to establish himself in the Wigan side making 21 appearances scoring 1 try.

In 2008 Prescott earnt himself a place in the 2008 Ireland World Cup Squad with some impressive performances in the first team making 8 appearances from the bench and 2 starting.

Leigh Centurions career

Prescott was loaned out to National League 1 side Leigh Centurions at the end of 2006 to allow Wigan to free up salary cap money and complete the signing of Bradford Bulls
