Dunne joined Bohemians in 1959 after spells with Transport F.C.

 and Rathfarnham. He started off in the Bohs "B" team but progressed to the first team and made his debut against Cork Hibernians in October 1959. He impressed enough to keep his place at left half for the rest of the 59/60 season, playing 22 games and scoring 3 goals. Midway during the following season, he moved on to Drumcondra and also later played for Longford Town.

Paul died on June 21, 2003.
