Back then, there was a P8, which was eventually abolished in 1966.
In 1951, at the age of fourteen (14), he was admitted to St. Mary's College Kisubi
, for his secondary school education, from S1 to S6. From Kisubi, he entered Makerere University Medical School to study Medicine in 1957. He graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 1962.

. While there, he obtained the degree of Member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom
