 for 30 years before his retirement in 1962. He wrote several papers, monographs, and keepsakes for The Typophiles, and also Books and Printing (1951).

He died in a plane crash along with Dale Coleman and Jack Stockdale on Berch Knob Mountain in Dixon County, Virginia on August 25, 1966. A stone marker sits 200 feet above the location of the crash.
