After several MMVA'S, Victoire de la Musique and Grammy Awards nominations, he is forced to end production mostly because of illegal downloading of music which forces record labels to re-think the way they sould market their artists. 

In the winter of 2009, under financial strain, Barbeau officially shuts down NùFilms which inspires him to write and then later direct his first feature film, Après la neige aka Winter passed (english title), slated to come out in 2012.

Under his new company Reprise Films, Barbeau has produced Demain, Jo pour Jonathan (World premiere Locarno) and Roméo Onze, directed by Ivan Grbovic (World premiere at Karlovy Vary where it received the Ecumenical Jury Commendation). He is presently working on Sébastien Rose's next film, Avant que mon cœur Bascule, starring Sophie Lorain, Sébastien Ricard and Alexis Martin.
