Its area includes Sivasankarapuram which is the popular village for poultry farms. Pattuthurai is the biggest poultry farm area in Salem district. Eggs are exported to all over Tamil Nadu from this Village. Vasistanadhi (Vashista River) flows through this village. This river flows from Salem and mingles with Cuddalore distric rivers.
