Patrick Lipton Robinson is the President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia
, a position he was elected to in November 2008. He was first elected to the Tribunal in 1998 and has been re-elected twice since.
In 2004, he presided over the trial of former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milošević
the first former head of state to be tried for war crimes.
He is the recipient of the national award, Order of Jamaica, awarded by the Government of Jamaica for services to International Law and Honorary Doctorate Degrees from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica and the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. He is the recipient of the award of Honorary Membership of the American Society of International Law
for 2011.
He is the author of the book “Jamaican Athletics – A Model for 2012 and the World".
