. At the 1943 general election
he was elected as a Clann na Talmhan
TD for Wicklow and he was re-elected at the 1944 general election
. He left Clann na Talmhan
in 1946 and at the 1948 general election
he was again elected as an independent TD. He lost his seat at the 1954 general election
but was subsequently elected to the 8th Seanad on the Agricultural Panel as an independent. He was defeated at the 1957 Seanad election.
