McAfee had been found shirtless and wet, and assumed to be swimming in a canal in Broad Ripple, a popular nightclub area, drunk, at approximately 5:15 that morning after being reported by a woman who found him near her car. Police reported that he tested with a blood alcohol content
of 0.15.
Colts president Bill Polian released this statement to Eyewitness News:
"We are aware that Pat McAfee was arrested this morning and charged with public intoxication. We are in the process of gathering the relevant facts. When that task is complete, we will deal immediately with the issue of club discipline. Until we complete that process, we will have no further comment."
