 criminal who has gained notoriety for his daring prison escapes using helicopters. He was initially sentenced to a 30 year jail term for a murder committed during the robbery of a security van.

12 October 2001 Luynes prison in southern France

The initial escape Pascal Payet escaped from Luynes prison using a hijacked helicopter.

2003 Luynes prison in southern France

Pascal Payet organized the helicopter escape of three men Franck Perletto, Eric Alboreo, and Michel Valero from Luynes prison using a hijacked helicopter. He was later captured and given seven more years for his role in the 2003 escape.

July 14, 2007 Grasse prison south-east France

Pascal Payet escaped from Grasse prison using a helicopter that was hijacked by four masked men from Cannes-Mandelieu airport. The helicopter landed some time later at Brignoles

On September 21, 2007 Payet was recaptured in Spain.
