History

Launched in 2003, the website was originally PartSolver.com as the representatives that worked for PartStore.com were titled Parts Solvers. The founders of Partsearch Technologies, Dean Summers and Glenn Laumeister are responsible for the creation of the website. Since its release PartStore.com also jumped 115 places from #401 in 2005 to #286 on the Internet Retailers Top 500 List. The 2010 list ranks Partstore.com at number 286 overall and number 8 in the hardware/home improvement category.

PartStore.com also ran an Active Duty Delivery Program, where they allowed and delivered goods to soldiers working overseas. Starting in 2006, the program delivered direct to APO mailboxes

Aligning with its parent company, Partsearch, PartStore.com implemented a Green initiative to help keep old electronics from entering landfills.
Partstore's website was down for a few days, after the company lost its largest client and had to layoff the majority of its staff.

Electronics retailer Best Buy Co. Inc. won the auction last week to buy Partsearch Technologies Inc., PartStore.com's parent company, which filed for Chapter 11 protection on January 27, 2011 in Manhattan Best Buy had been Partsearch’s largest customer.

The first bid at auction, $2.875 million, came from Eldis Inc. PartStore.com / Partsearch listed assets for $4 million and total liabilities of $13 million. On top of the $5.9 million owing to Best Buy, liabilities include $7 million in trade payables plus an undetermined amount for labor law violations for firing workers without required notice.

The case is In re Partsearch Technologies Inc., 11-10282, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District New York (Manhattan).

As of 9/28/11 the website is still up and operating. Underneath the logo is a tagline reading 'A Best Buy Brand'.

PartStore.com has millions of parts, ranging from appliance parts to computer accessories, and other replacement parts. PartStore offers uncommon parts, projector lamps, commonly misplaced or broken components & accessories, and add-ons for household electronics and appliances.
