Politically speaking, it's also commonly accepted to see the Paria region as the aggregation of six municipalities within the Sucre State (Venezuela): Bermúdez (Capital: Carúpano), Arismendi (Capital: Río Caribe), Benítez (Capital: El Pilar), Libertador (Capital: Tunapuy), Mariño (Capital: Irapa) and Valdez (Capital: Güiria).
