 and is used as a retreat, but the gardens are open to the public. The building is now a Grade II* listed building.

The gardens comprise of 24 acres (97,124.6 m²) of displays, featuring trees and shrubs and herbaceous borders. It is the only large garden open to the public in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
They were created from 1927 onwards but falling into decline after the death of Sir William Milner, 8th Baronet of Nun-Appleton, in 1960.
In the mid 1980s the process of restoration of the gardens began, which 25 years later have resulted in the gardens returning to their former glory.
