The series, set in the Bubblegum Crisis
universe, focuses on a special "Branch" of the A.D. Police
, an advanced group of officers tasked with stopping terrorist activities and Boomer crimes in the city of Megatokyo.
Buzz is a member of the "Branch" special task force of the AD Police. He was transferred to Branch five years before the story for shooting a child he thought was a boomer. Due to his mistake he is reluctant to carry a sidearm, despite being a gifted marksman. He was made a widower when his wife was killed by a rogue boomer.
Sergeant Rod Kimball
Kimball is a Boomer who serves alongside Buzz in Branch. While he cannot hold an official rank, he is treated as a Sergeant. He was also able to identify Reiko's romantic feelings for Buzz. He was killed while saving Reiko from a helicopter assassination.
Sergeant Reiko Michaelson
Reiko is the heavy weapons and vehicles expert in Branch.
Branch Leader Koji Takahashi
Koji is the Inspector in charge of Branch operations.
Lieutenant Elza "Angel" Lynch
While technically a member of Branch, Angel spends most of her time undercover, investigating the Genom Corporation.
Bill Myers
Bill serves as Branch's Boomer expert. The only person he seems to work well with is Buzz.
As an influential member of the hard-line party, and Presidential candidate, Sorime is a powerful man within Genom City. While they move in different circles, Sorime has crossed paths with both Kojima and Buzz.
Boomer Crusher
Crusher is a Boomer assassin in the employ of an unidentified individual. It is heavily armed and outfitted for stealth operations.
Eve is a Boomer prostitute that attracts the attention of the Boomer Crusher. Her skills have gained her clients in the top echelons of society.
Kojima
Kojima is a member of the National Police who worked with Buzz before his transfer to the AD Police.
