in 1967 from Perinthalmanna Assembly constituency, as a CPI (M) member. After a long gap, he was again elected in 1996 to the 10th KLA contesting from Ponnani constituency. He served as the Minister for Local Administration in the Ministry headed by E. K. Nayanar
