. The school's principal is former NFL player Willie Clark. The school currently serves over 2,000 students in grades 9 through 12. Palmetto High School was originally opened in 1957 and rebuilt in 1999. They have also recently built a new auditorium. They have also built new rooms and hallways. Under the direction of Tim Hamand, Palmetto's Marching Band was undefeated at the regional level in 2005. After a triumphant season the Marching Tigers went on to compete at state level in the FMBC semi-finals, where their color guard finished in fifth place.
