Founded in 1998, the Palestinian Cultural Club or the PCC as it is sometimes referred to, was established by a group of Palestinian students at the American University of Sharjah

 to facilitate the objectives the Palestinian community. The PCC have grown from a student club, limited to just over 30 members targeting the University's student population, into a noticeably influential student entity at the American University of Sharjah

. The PCC currently operates with an annual budget that is around USD $35,000 used to pay up for the various events that club holds. Which include inviting prominent lecturer, cultural concerts, theatrical performances, and social outings.

, dedicated to the continuous development and welfare of the Palestinian Community.

Objectives


Acting as the sole representative of the Palestinian Community and its interests; the PCC shall devote its efforts and functions to achieve the following objectives:
  • Firmly rooting the Palestinian connection of its Palestinian members to their origin and enriching the identity of the Palestinian community in AUS.

  • Educating the multi-cultural community of AUS on the ancient and modern history of Palestine.

  • Materially and morally, champion the resistance of all those who stand up for the Palestinian Cause.

  • Provide a rich and varied productive atmosphere that fosters the personal growth of its members and supports the development of their technical, social and cultural interests.

  • Provide its members with access to the various resources of history, art, literature and culture accumulated by earlier Palestinian generations as well as access to the latest available skills required for success in modern life to serve the promotion of the Palestinian society.

Membership and Policy

Membership to the PCC is open to all members of the AUS community regardless of race, color, gender, religion, disabilities, age or national origin. The creation of a multicultural community is both a means and an end in the mission of the PCC.

The club shall not be involved in any form of activity that contravenes the laws of the American University of Sharjah

Organizational structure

The Governing Authority of the Palestinian Cultural Club is referred to as the executive board, which consists of seven members elected by the members of the club on an annual basis.

The executive board has the right and duty to act in accordance with the objectives of the PCC, its own policies as outlined in this Constitution and any By-Laws.
