Palace of the Damned has received positive reviews from critics and readers, many saying that Shan is consistant, and continues to deliver. Some critics were unfavorable towards Ocean of Blood, but admitted to enjoying this book far more. Many stated that this book's predecessor was very slow moving or dull, but believe the series has been renewed.
