In recent times, Pakistani expatriates have seen growing threats to safety. The controversial killings of two Pakistanis in Iraq in 2005 led to high tensions between the two countries, with the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Pakistan banning all visas for Pakistanis to Iraq and insisting all Pakistani nationals to vacate Iraq.
