The name Padre Miguel homages the monsignor Miguel de Santa Maria Mochon (1879–1947), considered the largest meritorious of the dismembered region of Realengo

, Spain, priest Miguel came to Realengo when he was only 19 years old. The thin physicist did not impede that he would have an intense life in favor of the poor, sowing schools, creches and libraries. Priest Miguel died in 1947 and is buried in the church Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição. On 16 April of the same year the neighborhood Padre Miguel was created. A statue of the Spanish priest is located in the neighborhood's main square to remember him.
