History

PSG College of Arts and Science was started in 1947 by the PSG and Sons Charities Trust which was founded in 1926 by the four sons of P.S. Govindasamy Naidu, the four brothers of the PSG family, Thiru PSG Venkataswamy Naidu, Thiru PSG Rangaswamy Naidu, Thiru PSG Ganga Naidu and Thiru PSG Narayanaswamy Naidu.

Until 1978, the college was affiliated to Madras University; now the college is affiliated to Bharathiar University

Courses

  • Twenty two undergraduate courses including arts and science courses like B.Sc Visual Communication, BA Economics, Sociology, English and Tamil,
  • BSc courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science,
  • Twenty one postgraduate programmes,
  • M.Phil and Ph.D programmes in seventeen faculties.

Campus life

Cascall and Euphoria are the annual college cultural competitions. Students from all over Tamil Nadu participate in them as they have high prizes.

Associations like the Mathematics Association, Physics Association and Chemistry Association organise subject-related functions.

The Department of Computer Science organises a state-level inter-collegiate technical festival, "Gateway," which takes place during February and March. The events are primarily tests of computer technologies and have design-oriented events such as web design.

Motto

"Let there be charity so that other people may share my family's prosperity" said Sri. P.S. Govindasamy Naidu, and it remains as the motto of the college.
