The PSA Group sells a variety of diesel
automobile
engines with the HDi (high-pressure direct injection) designation. Earlier versions were exclusive to Peugeot
and Citroën
. In 1998, PSA agreed to form a joint venture
with Ford Motor Company
regarding production of new diesel engines. That partnership makes identical engines available in a variety of car models and marques. The engines are produced in production plants in the cities of Trémery
and Douvrin
in France and Dagenham
in England as well as at Volvo Engine Plant in Skövde Sweden, as part of the agreement with Ford Motor Company.
One half of the group's production of car is fitted with a HDi diesel engine, totalling to approximately 1.8 million vehicles per year (2007).
As a result of a cooperation between BMW Group and PSA, the MINI
One D and the MINI Cooper D are also fitted with PSA-made HDi engines.
1.6D DRIVe. In Peugeot and Citroen cars there are 90 PS and 110 PS versions available, the major difference being that the 90 PS has a conventional single scroll (constant pressure) turbo charger, whilst the 110 PS uses a twin scroll (two-pulse) turbocharger. All models are inter-cooled.
From 2011 PSA start to develop (1,598 cc) diesel with Bmw/Mini
