There were a number of primary schools in the area, but several of them were closed and merged with other schools. Current primary schools in the area include Thorpepark Primary, and The Parks Primary.

 programme, titled "The Transformation of Orchard Park – Shaping the Place, Creating a Fruitful Future". This was approved by Housing Minister John Healey

 in July 2009, with an allocation of £156 million for council housing build and maintenance over the PFI period. However, in November 2010 the Government cancelled all "pipeline" Housing PFI initiatives, including Orchard Park.

Despite the cancellation of the Housing PFI, some renewal projects will still be completed: the Orchard Centre, a new shopping centre, an Extra Care housing complex and the Northern Academy. High rise
