Oey
Encyclopedia
Oey is a Chinese Indonesian surname with a Dutch spelling that means "golden yellow", or literally "yellow." The most common direct English spelling is Huang (surname). Most Oey descendants living in Indonesia changed their surnames to Indonesian ones because of Cabinet Presidium Decision 127 of 1966—an anti-Chinese law that mandated that ethnic Chinese living in Indonesia adopt Indonesian-sounding names.
