The county seat is in Nyalam Town.

Khasa. It is located near the border and is the point of entry from Nepal. At "merely" 2300 meters elevation about the sea level, Zhangmu has mild and humid subtropical climate, which is a rarity for Tibet.

Other populated places in the county are the villages of Yalai (亚来), Suozuo (琐作), Nailong (乃龙), Menbu (门布) and Borong (波绒). (The names of the villages are given based on Chinese spellings; their Tibetan names may be somewhat different).
