 called Novigrad, tourist city of Novi Vinodolski settled in and spread out by the sea coast. Novi Vinodolski, historically established as a political and cultural center of Vinodol Principality ("Vinodol" - "Vallis vinea-ria" and Vinodol Statute 1288), a cradle of pleiad of writers of the family Mazuranic, thanks to evergreen vegetation and mild Mediterranean climate clean sea water and air, it was considered in 1878, only after Opatija, pioneer of tourism of the coast.

The city physiognomy is characterized by coastal architecture of white façades and red roofs, erected in the old city's nucleus from the sea level up to the church and tower located onto the hill, surpassing city contour as though they were protecting the stone city above the sea. Due to this very specific panorama, Novi Vinodolski has been recognized as a tourist city in the past and present days, and will very probable keep such reputation in the future as well.
The soul of the city of Novi Vinodolski consists of remains of cultural heritage, namely: Old walls of Roman fortress "Lopsica", remains of monk monastery "Pavlina", Frankopan fortress with castle, Cathedral, Church of St. Trinity' and church of St. Marin located at the small island with the same name, house of the brother Mazuranic, Reading-room and Library built in 1845, homeland museum and gallery, nucleus of the old city's center, as well as preserved authentic and original folklore of this city'. Well known hospitality of inhabitants, crystal transparent sea, the city and surroundings free from industry polluters, current of mountain air coming from high woods of an immediate forest, suitable for chase tourism, give to Novi Vinodolski invaluable ecological advantages, especially for development of tourism and other catering trade. Classic hotels, modern tourist colonies, auto-camps, bungalows, apartment and rooms in privately owned houses can accommodate over 12,000 tourists per day. Hotels and surround areas provide recreational and sports objects, closed and open swimming pools with sea water, saunas and other activities for personal need of tourists. Aquatoruim of the city's port with berths, gas stations, crane and, devices for vehicle lifting and lowering, parking place, trailers and floating crafts designated to nautical tourism. There are also emergency and salvage at sea services.

The city is connected with the Europe and Mediterranean by Adriatic tourist road, railway station of Rijeka, the airport of Krk-Rijeka, and especially by blue sea ways. Besides tourist and hotel trade, economy of Novi Vinodolski also disposes of wood processing industry with sawmill and three factories for final and semifinal products, then forestry, agriculture, trade, service communal services, while other services like health protection and pharmacy, telephone and other telecommunications, banks, exchange office, Harbor Master's Office and other offices meet all needs of tourists and inhabitants.
