In 2003, Northland launched its "applause" series of musical productions by students. The first event, held in the school hall, was so well attended in 2005 that in 2007, the show was moved to a larger venue at the Republic Polythenic. First class ticket home, held on the 20th July 2007 was sold out.

Every 2 years, a school music concert is held.

School uniform

The uniform is a collared white button-up shirt/blouse and sky-blue shorts/skirt depending on gender, with a pocket on the left breast. The school crest is sewn upon the breast pocket. Coloured nametags depending on level are sewn just above the pocket. Each new batch are given a colour (usually the colour of the previous year's graduating batch) for their personalised nametags which move up the grades with them for all six years in the school. The nametag scheme was introduced in 1998.

The PE (physical education) uniform is a T-shirt with letters 'N' and 'P' on the left breast and blue shorts with the crest sewn on the lower right of the shorts. The PE T-shirt was changed in 2004 to a blue collared polo T-shirt. Students wear the school tie (sky blue with patterns of the crest) on assembly days. Prefects(student leaders) wear a dark blue tie every day. Leaders among prefects wear a dark blue vest. Only white shoes are worn to school.
